Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase Tour
Over the next few months I’m doing some regional shows as part of the Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase tour. It’s a traveling Comedy Roadshow that gets to as many regional venues as possible. It’s a fantastic night of comedy in loads of awesome regional venues across Australia.
These are line-up shows and generally have 5 or 6 excellent comedians on the bill. All up it’s about 2 hours of top quality stand-up comedy that you don’t have to travel very far for.
First stop for my leg of the tour is The Blue Mountains on the 15th of August . You can get more information on that here.
Next stop is Nowra on the 17th. You can get more information here.

Tea With Alice Podcast
I recently recorded an episode of the super successful Tea with Alice Podcast with Alice Fraser. We sat down and drank tea and shot the shit for an hour. There is also a very extensive back catalogue of episodes to listen to, and also a Patreon account for the loads of the extra unreleased content here.
The Tea with Alice Fraser Daniel Townes Podcast recording was a lot of fun. I honestly can’t remember 100% everything that we discussed by I do remember leaving having had a good laugh. And I was a lot smarter than when I went in there.

In semi-related news the new podcast I’ve been working on is coming along quite nicely. Without getting ahead of myself I am still in the planning/pre-production stages as I’m going to make sure that this one is different to anything that I’ve ever done before, and hopefully something that hasn’t been seen in an Australian Comedy Podcast since Dave Jory and myself put out K Cast back in the day.
Sydney Fringe Comedy 2019
Sydney Fringe Comedy Festival 2019 kicks off at the end of August. I’m doing another split bill show with Sydney comics Alex Jae and Luke Heggie.
The dates are the 4th – 8th of September and it’s at The Factory Theatre in Marrickville. The show is called Is it?
Tickets are cheap coz we are trialling brand new jokes. Most of them will shine. Some of them will bomb. A few will make us wonder what the hell we were thinking to classify such a half-baked idea as finished comedy.
Overall It’s a fun week and most definitely my favourite time of year on the Sydney Comedy calendar.
This is the 5th year in a row I’ve done the show with Heggie and the 3rd with Alex. As you can see from last years pic we had a ball. (Luckily we could use the pic for the online registration stuff and posters for this year).
These shows are great nights of having a laugh and the three of us trying extremely experimental/brand new comedy. You can get more information/tickets for our Sydney Fringe Comedy Festival 2019 shows here.

Gold Coast Comedy
I’m doing a week of comedy shows on the Gold Coast from the 28th of July through to the 3rd of August 2019. There’s a whole range of different venues, including the one in the image below. You can grab more information on all of the live Gold Coast stand up comedy shows here.
Semi unrelated side note: Did you know that for search engine optimisation you need to have a minimum number of words in the post for something to even register with search engines? This chunk of information here is just to get the post to the recommended length of at least 300 words. You also have to make sure the words are mentioned enough times relevant to the length of text. This is pretty difficult when you only want to do short posts with information about upcoming live comedy shows. Do you know how hard it is to get the phrase Gold Coast Stand Up Comedy or Live Comedy on the Gold Coast in a post at least twice and not have it sound forced? It definitely ain’t easy.
On another unrelated side note: Sydney Fringe Festival is kicking off in a little over a month. I’ll have an update for that soon. Our shows are on from the 4th – 8th of September and we are doing another one of these and these.

Riverina Comedy Club Wagga Wagga
A few weeks ago I did a show at the Riverina Comedy Club in Wagga Wagga. If you live out that way and are after a great night of comedy then this is the spot. It runs on the last Friday of the month and the resident host is the fantastic comedian and all-around good guy Dane Simpson. He gets the best local acts from Wagga and Canberra and brings a headliner from either Sydney or Melbourne to close the show. It’s a night of world-class comedy in an awesome professional venue. Outside of the 5.5-hour drive each way, I had the time of my life.

Sydney Comedy Store – April
I’m doing some live shows at The Sydney Comedy Store from Sydney from April 4th – April 6th 2019. It is an absolutely cracking line up of International and Australian stand up comedians. There are two shows on Friday and Saturday, you can get all of the information and their killer year-round schedule of live stand up comedy shows from their website. It is easily one of the best comedy clubs not just in Sydney but over the whole world and it is right in our backyard.

Update July 2019: As in previous years I will be doing a new material show at Sydney Fringe in September 2019. I’ll add more information as soon as it’s available. If you’re more keen on seeing what the new material develops to over time then get to one of The Sydney Comedy Store shows and see it in a live Stand Up Comedy club environment.
I’ve also got a fair bit more road stuff coming up in the back half of the year so I’ll post an update on that as soon as I have all of the information. At the moment I am definitely going to Nowra, Orange, The Blue Mountains, Hobart, Brisbane, Armidale, Coffs Harbour, and Tamworth. I’ll post all of the dates once they’re finalised, it will be like my current Gold Coast dates here
Perth Comedy Festival 2019
Daniel Townes Perth Comedy Festival 2019 show is on sale. It’s at the Astor Theatre on May 10th. There’s one show only and it is in a stunning venue.
For a bit of background, this is my show from the 2018 comedy festival season. It is all cooked up and ready to go and melt peoples faces. More information and tickets for Daniel Townes Perth Comedy Festival 2019 show is available here.
This is the show I just did at the Canberra Comedy Festival in March. I’m doing something completely different for the Sydney Comedy Festival.
Update May 2019: Massive thanks to everyone that came along to all of my Perth Comedy shows this year, I had an absolute ball. It’s a great city and the crowds were fantastic. As always Canberra and Sydney Comedy Festivals were both great fun too.
Now that it’s over I am getting my stuff together for the beginning of festival season and Sydney Fringe Comedy in September. From there the material gets repeated and polished until it is good enough and then most likely ends up in my 2020 Comedy Festival shows for Perth, Sydney, and wherever else I decide to do the show next year.

Sydney Comedy Festival 2019
Daniel Townes Sydney Comedy Festival 2019 show is now on sale.
Indeed: A collection of all of my favourite jokes I’ve told over the years as a comedian. Excluding jokes from 2018 and 2017 and including a bunch of new stuff that I’ve been playing around with.

Update April 2019: Massive thanks to everyone that came out to these live shows. I had an absolute ball and it was a lot of fun digging through the archives and finding jokes that I haven’t told for ages. I had no idea if a lot of them work were going to work anymore. Some I just burnt because they were so dated. For the most part, I was pleasantly surprised at how many have stood the test of time.
Canberra Comedy Festival
Daniel Townes Canberra Comedy Festival show is on the 22nd of March 2019. This is my show from the 2018 Festival season so it’s super prime and ready to roll. Tickets and more information for the Canberra Comedy Festival shows are available here.

Sydney Fringe Comedy Festival is over for another year so massive thanks to everyone who came out to to the new material shows at this years Fringe Comedy with Daniel Townes (me), Luke Heggie, and Alex Jae. As always it was a blast. Also big ups and massive thanks to two of my favourite Sydney comedians Luke Heggie and Alex Jae for doing this with me year in and out and making the Sydney Fringe Comedy shows my favourite part of the Sydney comedy calendar.

Sydney Fringe Comedy 2018
Sydney Fringe Comedy Festival is back. This year I’m doing another split show with fellow comedians Alex Jae and Luke Heggie. It’s all-new material and we are going to torch that venue. Update July 2019: Daniel Townes Sydney Fringe Comedy shows for 2019 are on sale now. I’m doing another triple hander with two of my favourite stand up comedians Alex Jae and Luke Heggie.
These shows are always some of my favourite gigs of the year in Australian comedy. They’re experimental, new, and the risk of us falling flat on our face is pretty damn high. Potentially falling on my face in a room full of people is one of the reasons I got in to comedy in the first place.
Once again they’re at the Factory Theatre in Marrickville. We’re doing 6 shows. Tickets are cheap. The success rate of the new material has always been very high.

ABC2 Comedy Next Gen
ABC2 Comedy Next Gen was an awesome experience I was part of in 2017. Huge thanks to everyone who came out for the live recording at The Comedy Store and to everyone who watched the episode of ABC2 Comedy Next Gen featuring Daniel Townes on either ABC or iView.
If you missed it I’m currently getting the full-length extended version sorted. If you click the image below it will take you to a page with more information about the Daniel Townes Comedy Next Gen process. You can also click here.
I’d say the full-length release is not more than a couple of weeks away. All of the major work is done, it’s just a bunch of back end stuff left, exporting it, uploading it, and then we’re good to go.
If you can’t wait that long I believe it is still occasionally being aired on ABC Comedy and iView. Check your TV guides or Google any upcoming air dates.

Previously Comedy Special
Previously was the first full-length comedy special recorded by Daniel Townes (me) back in 2011. Just for fun there’s an old favourite joke in the clip below. I called it Previously because it was my way of moving on from the material like “hey previously on Daniel Townes, here are some jokes I used to do when I started.” It was recorded live at The Comedy Store.
